Houston Bronze Learns
Houston Bronze has had the privilege of working with many fine handbell directors. We always enjoy the opportunity to learn from them.
Houston Bronze Teaches
theghha.net/august-adventure/
Houston Bronze is committed to encouraging other handbell ringers. We offer a variety of classes to help ringers in the Houston community to learn skills and techniques needed to be successful ringers.
We launched two new educational programs in 2017, Summer Ring and Build a Bell Workshop. Summer Ring provides an opportunity for ringers to come together to hone their ringing skills and enjoy time with other bell ringers during the summer when most ensembles are not rehearsing. Build a Bell Workshop offers directors the opportunity to build the workshop that best suits the needs of their ensemble. By working with our education coordinator, a custom made workshop for each individual choir can be presented.
In 2016 we provided a bell maintenance workshop for Trinity Lutheran Downtown, the church that provides space for our rehearsals and equipment storage. We then conducted a Back to Bells Workshop for Area 9 and finally to end September we were at Clear Lake UMC providing separate workshops for new and experienced members of their ensemble. One attendee commented “It was a terrific evening. I never fail to learn from this amazing group.” We also began working as consultants to the Brookwood Community Handbell Ensemble. We have enjoyed sharing our love for all things BELL with each of these groups and we look forward future workshops.
Houston Bronze also participates in FebFest, Houston's annual handbell festival. FebFest is coordinated and sponsored by the Greater Houston Handbell Association and brings together hundreds of ringers of all skill levels from Houston and surrounding areas every February. For more information about FebFest, CLICK HERE. To help directors and ringers prepare for FebFest, Houston Bronze often participates in August Adventure. Houston Bronze Grants Scholarships
In 2016, HBE took steps toward building the future of handbell ringing through a new scholarship program. We granted three scholarships to College Ring In. We offered a scholarship to Distinctly Teen in 2017. We are happy that we can encourage young ringers as they learn the techniques and skills to carry into their future ringing experiences. If you would like to support the continued granting of scholarships, please consider making a donation to the ensemble and designate your gift to be used for educational purposes.
