The Gala is over. Thank you for joining us on our journey this year. It has been fabulous. Enjoy the slide shows below which will take you through our year , some history of HBE and then finally, the Gala itself. It has been a wonderful journey for all of us involved.
All of us at HBE were extremely excited about this milestone and celebrated with a gala evening on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Our gala included a concert by The Houston Bronze Ensemble, featuring past directors Hart Morris, David VanderMeer, Margaret Tucker, Dolan Bayless, Ben Harris, Ruth Seiwell. James Roberts was serving as artistic director at the time of the Gala celebration in May, 2014. We also played a newly commissioned work, "Selah", by Bill Brusick. Guests of honor, Christine Anderson and Jeff Weiss were also in attendance. Christine shared her talents with us in a solo performance accompanied by Jeff Weiss. We were happy to have in our audience many past members of Houston Bronze. In addition to the concert, we had celebratory drinks, a savory dinner, and 25th Anniversary cupcakes. A silent auction was held, with all proceeds supporting HBE's efforts towards enhancing Houston's handbell community. And if that weren't enough, the Julie Johnson Big Band provided music to get us out of our seats and onto the dance floor! It was truly one for the record books!
